ALL IN FOR ANOTHER RAGNAR…
Remember my super awesome Ragnar Relay- Miami to Key West experience? Turns out, it was only the first of many! Many of my amazing team members banned together to run the Ragnar Relay Cape Cod in May and had another fun experience, while I celebrated my little brother’s college graduation. Since then, I have had the itch the do another one and finally found 11 other people to scratch it. Let me start from the beginning…
It is funny how you can become friends with people you have known for awhile years later. It happened to me when I began working at Sacred Heart and I befriended people I had known in school for 4 years. The same is true for Ashley who was a friend of a friend that I had been friendly with in college but it wasn’t until this year that we actually became friends…and she has already been a game changer! Her passion for running and fitness continues to encourage me out on the road and at the computer as we both write healthy living blogs! Plus, her love for neon is really catching on within my own closet..in her short time of blogging, she has already begun reaching out to other blogs to make connections and learn from them and I am learning to do the same.
Because of her reach out…enter new blogging friends..who all share a passion for running..and decide to form a Ragnar Relay team. Each of them then reaches out to other blogging women (myself included) and there we all are meeting for the first time at a bar in NYC to discuss running this epic race together. Not only was I excited to have an opportunity to run another Ragnar, but I was also excited to make new fitness blogging friends and running buddies in the NYC area! It was a win win all around and before you knew it, we were all registered and getting the ball rolling on plans.
One of the most unique/fun things about our team is that we have a team member getting married a few weeks after. SO i guess we are considering this her fitness Bachelorette party? With that theme in mind, we tried to think of a team name and costumes that would go along with it and we landed on..
THE MAIDS OF DISHONOR

Pretty awesome right? Now considering there are 9 bloggers on the team, we decided to put a media kit together and do some outreach for sponsors and exposure. I will keep you updated on that progress! In the meantime, it has been fun to start getting to know new people that I will soon know very well at the end of September as we run from Saratoga Springs to Lake Placid, New York together (anticipating a lot of hills)!!!
The race is September 28-29 which means this Saturday is my 2 month mark! Gotta start picking up those runs and weight training to prepare for another fun experience! I am mixing it up this time and will be in Van #1 as runner 6 with a total mileage of 17.6!
Leg 1- 4.6 miles, Moderate
Leg 2- 8.7 miles, Very Hard
Leg 3- 4.3 miles, Hard
I wanted to step it up in mileage and toughness this time around, especially because I delayed my NYC Marathon goal until next fall. If this is going to be my big race of the season, then I need to give it all I have! Also, running alongside so many accomplished marathoners, I am going to need to prove my worth! Pretty excited to push myself a little further this time around. Also, I am anxious to experience the Van #1 sleep and eating schedule. Van #2 was very tough for me in the last race so I am hoping the timing is a little more regular for this one so I can train my body a little better. I am also happy it won’t be insanely hot up in the Adirondack mountains like it was in Key West!

Either way, I am very honored to have been asked amongst this accomplished group of athletes and fitness bloggers and look forward to sharing my RAGNAR-RELAY training progress, race preparation, and overall experience with you!
